Speaking Rubric

The MET Speaking Test assess the test taker’s ability to produce comprehensible speech in response to a wide range of tasks and topics. The MET Speaking Scoring Rubric (PDF) describes test performance at five levels of ability (0–4).

MET reports are primarily intended for officers in institutions accepting the MET, language instructors, and researchers in language testing or other relevant fields.

Interpreting MET Scaled Scores via CEFR Levels

The exact cut scores between adjacent CEFR levels, based on research conducted by CaMLA, are available in Interpreting Scaled Scores in Relation to the Common European Framework Levels (PDF), where selected CEFR performance descriptors illustrate what test takers should be able to do at each level.
