Wishing Our Colleague Good Luck

Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments (CaMLA) announced today that Spiros Papageorgiou has tendered his resignation as program manager, effective January 20, 2012.

"Spiros has made outstanding contributions both as a program manager and as a researcher during the four years he has been with us. He led the team that developed and operationalized CaMLA’s newest international exam, the Michigan English Test (MET), and he designed and conducted a standard-setting study to relate MET scores to the Common European Framework of Reference," said Barbara Dobson, CaMLA assistant director. “Recently he has also served as program manager for the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), bringing his theoretical and operational talents to a second CaMLA exam.”

During his tenure in Ann Arbor, Spiros has also been a very active contributor to the wider language testing community. In addition to publishing and presenting his research, he served as a member of the Spaan Fellowship Committee, member-at-large for the Midwest Association of Language Testers (MwALT), a key member of the LTRC 2011 organizing committee, and is currently member-at-large for ILTA.

“Spiros has been a wonderful colleague, and his efforts at CaMLA will continue to resonate within the organization for years to come,” said Casey Marks, CaMLA chief executive officer. “We wish him all the best as he moves to the next phase of his career.”
